Once software has been installed on a device it will be available to open from the Windows Start Menu, which is located on the Taskbar.
The Taskbar
The Taskbar is the bar that appears by default at the bottom of your screen and looks similar to the following:
On the taskbar you will see, from left to right
- The Start Menu button
- The Search bar
- Virtual Desktop button
- Pinned and Running applications
- System Tray
- Quick actions
- Clock
- Notifications
Opening the Start Menu
You can find the Start Menu button in the task bar, which looks like
You will also find a key on your keyboard with a similar symbol in between the left side CTRL and ALT keys.
Searching the Start Menu
After opening the Start Menu you can simply start typing the name of the application you are looking to open.
Pin applications in the Start Menu or Taskbar
By default there are some applications pinned to the start menu. If you do not intend to use these for quick access, you can unpin them.
When you've search for an application, you will see an option on the right to pin the application to the Start Menu, an example is shown below.
You can also right click on an application that is showing on the Taskbar and either unpin or pin to taskbar as required.
